My Mama Prayed for Me

I think about how blessed I am that my mama prayed for me.
Everyday, she prayed.
She taught me to pray.
A simple prayer initially,
that always ended..."God bless Papa, God bless Mama...
What a wonderful thing it is to know that someone prayed for you today.
Think about it.
Not just a meaningless, empty prayer in passing.
But words fueled by love and a heart led by true compassion.
A person prayed for you today because God brought you to mind.
Someone said, "Bless him, Lord,"
"Protect my children today,"
"Guide her in the right direction,"
"Give ear to her needs,"
"Strengthen him today,"
"Watch over that little baby struggling for life,"
"Help her through her pain...."

Think about it. Give pause.
It has given me pause. Spinning around in my head. Speaking to my heart.
You didn't ask to be prayed for.
Maybe you don't think about praying, even for yourself.
There are those who never pray in earnest for others, except when placed in a position
of people gathered in prayer (as an example).

But there are those who pray everyday for others.
Heartfelt and in the spirit of love and a caring heart.
Some pray because they feel burdened by the pain and suffering of others
and so they kneel and pray, for strangers even.
How wonderful is that!!
When I think about those people whose very role in life is praying for others,
I am awed and greatly touched by the obedience to the call,
by their steadfast faith in God to pray,
by their faithfulness to the Word, "Pray one for another."

Dear God hear the prayers on the hearts of your loved ones this day.
Give comfort, give joy, give hope, give healing, give an abundance of rain,
give coolness in the heat of the moment,
give a heart which suffers lost a place to rest,
give life to the lost, give shelter from the storms which rage against the mind,
give reprieve from burdens overwhelming.
Let Your love cast a giant shadow upon the land that all can see Your goodness
and mercy which endures forever and ever.
Let Your light shine in the darkness.
Let Your great and abounding love come forth in the radiant beauty of the sun.
Let this be the day You've made for rejoicing in Your ever wondrous works
in earth as it is in heaven.
Guide us with Thine all-seeing eye.
Give us the mind of Christ which bears witness to the prayers of the Holy Spirit
working on the inside-out.
